Up Close

It's designed to let you get away with being inconspicuously fast.

Let's face it, this isn't your typical sports car. It's classically understated which falls in line with our traditional design approach. Take a look at the simple, attractive shape of the body. It sits upright and isn't overly long. That combination goes a long way in reflecting the car's sturdiness. Then there's the way it's been put together. It looks practically seamless, as if made from one solitary piece of metal. You'll notice the car feels especially solid as you're driving over pesky bumps in the road, too. The secret to all of the above is that gaps in the body aren't any wider than 3.5 millimetres. In our book, the very notion of "minor detail" is simply an oxymoron.

Headlamps

Take a look at the overall design. Lower on the inside and higher on the outside, their shape conveys a certain aura of confidence and assertiveness. Funny-that's exactly what the GTI is.

  17" Alloy Wheels

More rim and less tire provide better cornering and more accurate turns. This five-spoke design also evokes strength and momentum even when the GTI is at a red light. So you're moving when you're standing still. Kind of.

  Whip Antenna

Don't think of it as an antenna-think of it as a highly functional work of art. Its unique spiral design means less wind resistance and none of those annoying whistley sounds that straight wire antennas tend to make.
