ESP

Forget oversteer and understeer. Courtesy of ESP, now there's wonder-steer.

You can never be too careful on a curvy road. Hence ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program). It's a little something added that continuously detects whether where you're steering, and where you're actually headed, are one and the same.

Let's say, for some reason, that isn't the case. ESP instantly senses a discrepancy between the two and with some help from ABS, compensates the "skid factor."

ABS CONTROL MODULE

Think of this as the brain. It gathers driving data and compares where you'd like to go, to where you're actually headed. If there are any discrepancies, the module will determine what wheel to brake (or accelerate), and to what extent.

STEERING WHEEL ANGLE CENSOR

It's pretty self-explanatory. Without this component, ESP wouldn't be able to determine where you're actually steering. It's located on the steering column and constantly provides the module with your steering-wheel locking angle.

LATERAL ACCELERATION AND YAW RATE SENSOR

These guys work together to monitor whether the car is breaking away to the side or beginning to skid. The module takes appropriate action based on the constant information they deliver.
