Up Close

Either we drove the Jetta to the fountain of youth, or it drove itself.

The more simply a car shaped, the more refined and youthful at looks. The design language of th Jetta fits right in with our traditional form-follows-function ethic. The way the hood points down slightly brings attention to all the power underneath. The smooth line of the rear is clean and uncomplicated, adding a touch of elegance to its sturdiness. Another bonus is that gaps are noticeably tight. That's because none exceeds 3.5 mm. Sticking to this strict rule makes it hard to notice where one individual piece of the body begins, and another one ends. That does wonders for the car's oneness. And as you probably know, were all about wonders.

Headlamps

Distinctly understated, they lend a hand to the Jetta's youthful demeanor. They don't wrap around the fender either, which keeps the car's profile nice and clean. (A real treat for other drivers as you zip by in the fast lane.)

  The C-Pillar

Ah, flowing lines. We can't get enough of them. This particular one is our pride and joy. Look how smoothly the lines run down the roof before curving ever so slightly into the trunk area. Think it was easy getting it to look this way? You try it.

  Whip Antenna

Don't think of it as an antenna - think of it as a highly functional work of art. Its unique spiral design means less wind resistance and none of those annoying whistley sounds that straight wire antennas tend to make.
