Engines

For us, it's unlikely the thrill of making great engines will ever wear off.

There's nothing we love more than working on engine until it's flawless. (OK, it's between that and driving the car.) So we rack our brains and great things happen. The car gets that extra bit faster off the line because we cut down the camshaft's weight. Diesel performance improves because specially designed ports around the valves create air swirl. Space for yet more cylinders is gained when angle between the cylinder banks is reduce by mere fractions of a millimeter. Where there's an opportunity to raise the bar, will raise it - and in the process, make sure there's more than just one engine to choose from.

2.0L

This engine benefits from a simple and true design. (some wouldsay it's a classic). Its compact, pretty light weight, and requires less space under the hood - all of which goes to providing smooth engine performance. To top it all off, it offers lowered emissions too.

  TDI

Our most fuel-efficient engine has faster cold starting than most conventional diesels. It's lighter and delivers lots of low-end torque for initial acceleration. It goes without saying you get more miles for the money, but an added bonus is not having to go for tune-ups as often as you might for other engines

Tiptronic

By linking a Tiptronic transmission to the engines, you get an automatic that functions like a manual. To drive in automatic, just leave the selector in the "D" position. For manual, slide the selector to the right and push forward to upshift, or pull backward to downshift. You've got choices. Take advantage.

1.8T

Light in weight, compact in design, this engine has five valves per cylinder. That means that are breathing for enhanced performance. Coupled with a Turbo, you get high torque starting with low RPM so you're quicker off the line. And high horsepower at high RPM. provides exceptional passing power. Your fuel economy is improved*, and there are lowered emissions, too.

VR6

This engine's special 15 degree "V" shape makes for minimal vibration and there're six cylinders for adding smoothness. (That's 24 valves in total.) It's designed to fit in compact cars and since it's particularly light in weight, you get improved performance. Plenty of torque across the rpm band sets you up for quick acceseration and passing power.
