GLI

The Jetta GLI. Tossing things out only made it go faster.

You might recall there was one in the '80s. While today's Jetta GLI is all about maximizing performance, iIt offers nothing but the bare maximum. Of course, there have been a few changes since back in the day. The engine's improved vastly in there's no 200 HP to play with, along with the 6-cylinder smoothness. There's also a six-speed manual transmission to help you handle the power. And while the point is to put as little as possible between you and the road, we took the liberty of beefing up the GLI in all the right places. It's got sport suspensions, new sport seats, dual chrome exhaust tips, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Call it a hunch, but we didn't think you'd mind.

Six-speed manual transmission

Adding the magic number six to the shift knob seemed like the right thing to do for this car. Besides providing more control over more power, it'll have you daydreaming about qualifying for Formula One.

Dual chrome exhaust tips

Chrome has a way of catching your eye, and that's why we've used it to highlight this sporty feature. As you can see, we didn't go too crazy. Making it loud and obnoxious just wouldn't be in our character.

17" Alloy Wheels

More rim and less tire provide better cornering and more accurate turns. The five-spoke design also evokes strength and momentum even when the car's at a red light. So you're moving when you're standing still. Kind of.
